USA Department of Commerce announced a preliminary ruling on anti-dumping investigation of wooden cabinets, dressers and components imported from China on October 3,2019.

The U.S. Department of Commerce announced on October 3 a preliminary ruling on anti-dumping investigations on wooden cabinets, dressing tables and components imported from China, deciding that Chinese exporters had dumped these products to the United States at a rate of 4.49% to 262.18%.

The U.S. Department of Commerce has ruled that Chinese exporters will dump wooden cabinets to the U.S. market at a rate of 4.49% to 262.18%, and they will face anti-dumping duties of 28.7% to 251.6% because these products are in the U.S. market at less than fair prices Sales.

On March 6, this year, the American Kitchen Cabinet Alliance filed a complaint asking the Federal Department of Commerce and the United States International Trade Commission to launch an anti-dumping and countervailing investigation on China's imported products. The reason is that Chinese manufacturers are receiving government subsidies and dumping in the United States at unfair prices, causing US $ 2 billion to 4 billion in losses to similar US industries.

On August 8 this year, the Ministry of Commerce determined that Chinese manufacturers had accepted government subsidies, and instructed the US Customs and Border Protection to use the 229% subsidy rate for two exporters of wooden cabinets and bathroom cabinets to the United States. Chinese companies receive cash deposits.

The United States imported about US $ 4.4 billion of wooden cabinets, bathroom cabinets and related components from China in 2018, a significant increase from US $ 3.6 billion two years ago.

US customs officials will charge importers a cash deposit based on the dumping rate announced on Thursday. These deposits will be refunded if the Department of Commerce or the U.S. International Trade Commission (USITC) ultimately determines that the Chinese manufacturer has not dumped.

The Ministry of Commerce will announce the final ruling around February 17, 2020. The US International Trade Commission is expected to vote on whether to approve it on January 30 next year.
